Vietnam's territory is entirely located in the tropics, but Vietnam's territory has an S-shape stretching from 23°23' North to 8°27' North (quite close to the equator). Therefore, Vietnam's climate also has a distinct division into three main climate types:
- Subtropical humid
- Monsoon
- Tropical savanna
Because of the separation and interference of two types of humid tropical and subtropical climates, the climate has a diverse range. This also leads to the diversity of vegetation - plants and marine life here.
