Phu Quoc Island is known as the hidden and mysterious heaven among Vietnam's islands. It is surely undeniable to describe the complete beauty of Phu Quoc via letters. It is totally beyond words. Visitors say that the island keeps an unbelievable primitive and alluring appearance.
From a general look, the whole island stands among the sea like a huge green gem of nature. That is the reason why Phu Quoc is known as the Emerald Island. Surrounding space is the interminable turquoise sea along with the long strips of golden and white sand meandering the coastlines. Along with the tropical forest, to complete the typical beauty of Phu Quoc city and island, are the coconut and casuarina trees standing along the beaches. Moreover, Phu Quoc’s fauna varies from birds, mammals to marine creatures. Tourists should build the awareness of saving the original beauty of the island not only for the present but also for the future.
However, the uncontrolled tourism directions gradually bring the untouched beauty of the Pearl Island away. The more modern constructions and tourism complexes were built to fulfill and attract tourists, the less picturesque Phu Quoc is maintained.

Around 1671, when Phu Quoc still was an unnamed island of Vietnam, a group of Chinese people came and settled for a long time in the Phu Quoc’s area nowadays. From the 1760s - 1780s the island began to be known widely because king Nguyen Anh fled to this island to escape from Tay Son fleet’s chasing. Then in 1869, Phu Quoc changed a lot because French colonists controlled and applied several exploitation measures. Afterwards, within the Vietnam war period, Phu Quoc Island was under the domination of American invaders. Since 1949, the island has been controlled officially by Vietnamese government.
Phu Quoc has quintessential features of the humid tropical monsoon climate which is wet, hot and rainy as Vietnam's one. The Emerald Island experiences 2 main seasons including a rainy season lasting 6 months from June and a dry one happening during the remaining months. The hottest temperature in Phu Quoc is around 35°C. Nevertheless, for the majority of the year, the Phu Quoc weather has a very favorable temperature for visitors, approximately 23°C. In addition, tropical cyclones usually happen in July and August, so to minimize the unintended happenings for your trip, tourists should consider this information. Despite that, Phu Quoc is still one of a fews islands which are not affected badly within the Vietnam floods and cyclones season.
