1 - Thac Ba Lake - Vietnam largest artificial lake 

Thac Ba Lake is situated in Yen Bai. It was formed in 1971 for the original purpose of supplying the water for Thac Ba hydropower plants. Nonetheless, it gradually became well-known for its picturesque scenery and was considered a  National Cultural-historical Heritage in 1996. Along with the wild beauty of more than 1,300 islands in a variety of sizes and features, a system of caves in this lake offers a brand new experience of the stunning beauty of Vietnam’s nature.

Travelers have three choices to get to Thac Ba Lake. Firstly, you can go there by personal vehicle. Thac Ba Lake is about 150km far from Hanoi city center. Therefore, it will take you about 3 and a half hours to get there. Secondly, you can take a bus from My Dinh station (5,60 USD/ pax). 5 - T'nung Lake (the Inland Sea) - A famous lake in Pleiku Vietnam

Located in North of Pleiku - an area of the Highland in Vietnam, T'nung Lake name covers an area of up to 2,28 km2. As a result, it is well-known with the name "the Inland Sea". On the other hand, T'nung in the local's language also means "the sea located on the mountain". Besides, this huge lake was recognized as a National Heritage Site in 1988.

Standing over there by T'nung Lake is Bien Ho Che Lake with the beautiful Korea street full of pine trees on both sides of the road. In the surrounding area, there are also Bu Minh Pagoda- one of the oldest pagodas in Gia Lai province, a dormant volcano named Chu Dan Ya, Chu Nam mountain and so on.  

6 - Than Tho Lake (Lake of Sighs)

Than Tho Lake is a natural lake that lies to the East of Da Lat city of Lam Dong province. Travelers can go there from the center of Da Lat City, go straight through Quang Trung Street to Phan Chu Trinh Street then Ho Xuan Huong Street. Than Tho Lake can easily be found on the right side of Ho Xuan Huong Street. Its special name results from an unfinished love story caused by the misunderstanding between a young couple. The girl in the story had committed suicide in the lake after hearing that her boyfriend was slayed in a battle. When the boy came back home and heard about that, he could not endure affliction and committed suicide in this Vietnam lake too.  However, it's just an old story and there was no evidence proving that story at all. When it comes to the historical record, its name came from the old name set by the French which means "murmur". Besides, Than Tho Lake was recognized as a National Heritage Site in 1999.

Travelers can get to Than Tho Lake in particular or Da Lat City in general from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city by several means of transportation. If you want to travel by plane, the price is about 30,17- 215,52 USD/ pax for a return ticket with the drop point at Lien Khuong airport then take a bus (2,16 USD) or a taxi (12,93 USD) to the center of the city. 7 - Xuan Huong Lake

Located in the center of Da Lat, Ho Xuan Huong has been considered as the heart of Da Lat City. This Vietnam lake has the shape of a crescent moon with a total area of 0,25km2 and is covered by Tran Quoc Toan Street. There are two main ways to explain the name of this lake. Some people believe that it was named after Ho Xuan Huong - a famous poetess, meanwhile, others think it has such a name like that due to the delicate fragrance of flowers around the lake in the spring ('Huong' means 'delicate fragrance', Xuan means 'spring').

Ho Xuan Huong Lake gathers most of the famous attractions in Da Lat city including DaLat flower park, Yesin park, Lam Vien Square, Lumiere park, Cam Ly spring, Da Lat Doi Cu golf course, and so on. Travelers can enjoy several entertaining activities in this area such as going boating (1,29 USD/ hour), a carriage ride (8,62 USD/ hour), riding a tandem bike (2,16- 2,59 USD/ hour). 2 - Classifications 

Lakes in Vietnam could be classified into two types according to its formation including natural and artificial lakes:   
- Artificial lakes are those which were formed by humans to solve some essential issues such as the production of hydroelectric power, flow regulation, supplying irrigation water, tourism attraction, and so on. Some of them are very famous namely Thac Ba Lake in Yen Bai province, Hoa Binh Lake in Hoa Binh province, Dau Lake located in the middle of Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong and Tay Ninh province, or Dai Lai Lake in Vinh Phuc province. 
- On the other hand, natural lakes came into being by the influence of some natural phenomena like volcanic eruptions or river movements. Some famous natural lakes can be counted such as Ba Be Lake in Bac Can province, Hoan Kiem Lake and West Lake in Hanoi, To Nung Lake in Gia Lai province, Tuyen Lam and Ho Xuan Huong Lake in Da Lat, etc. 
In brief, Vietnam owns a number of gorgeous lakes that travelers around the world should come and explore at least one occasion.
