Hue City, located in the central region of Vietnam, is the capital city in Thua Thien Hue province. In 1307, it was taken over by King Tran Anh Tong and renamed Chau Thuan and Chau Hoa. In 1626, Lord Nguyen Phuc Son moved his palace to Phuoc Yen Village (now Phuc An). Until the French colonial period, “Hue” was a folk name to refer to the old Citadel.
